The Cardinal John Henry Newman collection, 1860-1886, contains handwritten letters sent by Cardinal Newman to personal acquaintances, his banker, and Catholic worshippers during his time at the Oratory in England. Cardinal John Henry Newman was born February 21, 1801 in London to banker John Newman and Jemima Fourdrinier, a descendant of a prominent English Huguenot family.
